NIHR Receives a Delegation of the US House of Representatives and Senate Staff

Eng. Ali Ahmed Al-Derazi, Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), received in the NIHR headquarters in Seef district a delegation that includes a number of US House of Representatives and Senate staff, on the occasion of the delegation’s official visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain, in the presence of a number of members of the Council of Commissioners and the Secretary-General.


At the beginning of the meeting, Al-Derazi welcomed the visiting delegation, pointing out the historical relations between the friendly Kingdom of Bahrain and the United States of America, stressing the importance of these visits to enhance continuous cooperation and coordination between the two friendly countries, reviewing the NIHR’s role in spreading, promoting and protecting human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain, in accordance with the terms of reference entrusted to it in its Establishment Law, in addition to its continuous concern for strengthening communication with everyone at regional and international levels.

Al-Derazi also reviewed the NIHR’s most prominent achievements since its establishment, pointing to its advisory role in making recommendations related to human rights to the relevant bodies, as well as its effective role during the spread of Covid-19, through its diligent follow-up of the precautionary measures taken by the Kingdom of Bahrain to combat the spread of the virus while ensuring non-prejudice to the human rights of citizens and residents alike.

For their part, the delegation expressed their thanks and appreciation for the warm welcoming, asked a number of questions related to the NIHR’s work and exchanged views on a number of issues of common interest.
